On Monday Year 2 visited the Synagogue in Priory Street as part of our learning about Passover and why it is important for Jews. We looked at the features of this place of worship, including The Ark which contained the Torah. We also learnt more about the practices which happen on the Sabbath, including the saying of prayers and wearing of the prayer shawl. We then learnt more about the Seder meal which is eaten at Passover. We tried the unleaven matzah bread which is eaten during this time as the Jews did not have time to wait for their bread to rise before escaping slavery in Egypt with Moses.
