As part of the work of Eco-Schools this year, we are continuing to reduce single use items in school and increase recycling. Last year we collected crisp packets and pens and we are continuing to do this this academic year. Each classroom has a box for recycling these items.
This year we are also collecting plastic lids of all colours. We are going to use these later in the year to create an eco-themed piece of art. We need as many lids as possible so please start collecting. Lids can be added to the pen box in each classroom.
Finally, please think carefully when choosing Christmas cards this year. Our primary school has 1 class per year x 30 pupils that will = over 6000 cards exchanged per Christmas and 2 trees felled. Why not write one card to the whole class instead.
It would be brilliant if we could also reduce the amount of glitter we use because glitter is tiny bits of plastic that eventually may end up in our water sources such as oceans and seas.
Thank you for your support,
Kendall Eco-Council
