Our school community believes that extra-curricular off-site trips and specialist teachers and visitors to our school make for very memorable learning experiences for our children and help to bring their learning to life. Without voluntary donations from parents, these trips would not be able to go ahead. But how much should you budget for these activities?
Costs are subject to variation as they are set by extra-curricular providers and travel companies. Some trips will be free. If you budget £20 per quarter for your class’s main school trip or curriculum visitor, this should be adequate. Please be aware that in some quarters we have whole school activities, for example in Q1 we have Maths week which often involves a whole school trip, in Q2 the PTA put on different optional activities like the Christmas Disco and bazaar, in Q3 we have a Reading Week where different activities take place and in Q4 we have our KS2 school production where children may be required to bring or make a costume. Again, if you budget an additional £20 for each quarter, this will more than cover the costs of these curriculum enriching activities that make learning very memorable for the children. For the PGL Residential in Year 6 we offer staged payments to make budgeting easier. You will be informed a year in advance of what the staged payments are and when they are due.
