Year 6 Residential at Bawdsey Manor

Our Year 6 children had a truly unforgettable week away on their residential trip to Bawdsey Manor. From the moment they stepped off the coach and saw the grand manor house, the excitement was clear to see! The week was packed with adventure. On the very first day, the children tackled archery and the mighty Jacob’s Ladder before putting their teamwork skills to the test with evening challenges. As the days went on, they embraced everything from buggy building in the sunshine and archery tag at sunset, to braving the climbing wall, challenge course and problem-solving activities. Highlights included a fascinating coastal walk learning about the manor’s World War II history, testing their courage on the abseiling tower, bouncing through aeroball, and even dancing the night away at the disco. The “Leap of Faith” trapeze, rifle shooting, fencing and the giant swing all added to the thrill of the week, with the campfire and marshmallow toasting making the perfect ending to their final night. Throughout the trip, the children amazed staff with their resilience, bravery, and teamwork – encouraging one another and giving every challenge their best effort. By the end of each busy day, they were more than ready for a good night’s sleep in preparation for the next adventure. The whole experience created wonderful memories, lots of laughter, and a real sense of achievement. Year 6 did us proud – and we’re sure their stories (and souvenirs!) will be shared at home for many weeks to come.
