On Wednesday Year 1 met a real-life Arctic explorer. He came and showed us pictures he had taken on his visits to the Arctic. He had a picture of a lemming that bit his finger! Our explorer also showed us all his Arctic equipment. He had an ice axe, food in bags and a tiny tent. The children asked him lots of questions and they listened very carefully. He told us about nosy polar bears and very cute puppies that would one day pull a sledge in the Arctic. After play, Year 1 learnt all about maps and then used their own to find flags hidden all over the Key Stage 2 playground. It was a great day and we even had freezing weather to match!
